Born to run

We all know of my love for Woolly Wormhead hats.

She graced me (and by me I mean anyone that wanted one) with a new pattern.

A cute beanie with drop stitches instead of ribbing. Yet another simple but brilliant pattern.

Which I just couldn’t leave alone.

The original?

Aran weight yarn, sz 7US needles, CO 60

Mine?

DK weight yarn, sz 9US needles, CO 70 which I increased to 90 after 2 rows of garter stitch.

The goal?

A sloochy!

Mission Accomplished!

Well….mostly.

I finished this up at the bark park which seems to  effect my counting ability.  So instead of nice evenly placed runs, I got shall we say more independent streaks.

Honestly, I dig them.

The big fubar? (you knew that there was one. come on, you had to of known. this is me we are dealing with.)

A series of dropped stitches decided that they belonged with one another. Yup.

A run that ran together.

I have deemed it the ultimate ventilation hole!

When I sent pics to Blah, she immediately replied… MINE!

Yup.

I caved.

Sucker. That’s me.

67

I am well versed in text speak but wtf is 67?

Whenever I attempt to text the word “or” my phone always gives me “67″ as the first option.

Jigga whaa?

Why on earth is that the first option? What does it all mean? I’ve never even input a phone number with those digits.

I think my phone is

     a) trying to make me look crazy

     b) trying to make me feel crazy

     c) trying to let me know I’m not as “with it” as I think I am.

Nail on the head

Have you ever had the barest of thoughts lying quietly in your head?

One of those thoughts that you can feel instinctively but when it comes time to bring it out into the daylight, it wilts and hides?

Have you ever happened upon someone so wonderfully expressing that thought that it has left you agape and speechless? Partly out of joy. Partly out of jealousy. Mostly joy though.

I have had that thought. It has taken many forms but it has never fully embraced the sun.

Today, I found that thought through someone else’s words and they were perfect.

Just joy. No Jealousy.

And maybe a little appropriate righteous ire.

Ketchup

I’ve been knitting but not so much chatting about it. Guess that means it’s time to rattle off my knittin’ shizzle. *giggles*

I’m sooooooo hardcore.

Lemme see…

I finished a hat for mz_e. She loved my Star Crossed Slouchy Beret so much she requested one of her own. Who am I to say no? Especially when she bought the yarn. Malabrigo, of course. In Hummingbird!! mmmmmm *drools*

Here is mine in Vaa, in case I forgot to mention it earlier.

mmmm Vaa

I also finished my Coachella.

Super easy and super cute! Especially on. Off, it is not impressive. LOL

Racerback, I might add.

While it may give me linebacker shoulders, I still love it. Why you ask? That is because said footballer shoulders make my waist look super teeny!

I used Berrocco Suede Deluxe in … some kinda blue. Country? Wrangler? *shrugs* All I know is that I love the way it knitted up. It has this great heavy feel to it but is still stretchy and light. And we all know how I feel about shiny things! I am part circus horse after all. LOL

Lastly, I knit a basic blue beanie in bamboo for Blah.

I didn’t use a pattern. I just kinda wung it.

Basically…

cast on about 95 on US 4’s

K ST ST for about 2 inches

Changed to 8’s and did ST for about 4ish inches (Blah is not a big headed chica and doesn’t have much hair either).

K2tog all the way around

ST ST for 1 inch

K2tog all the way around

ST ST for 1 inch

K2tog all the way around

and again

Then put remaining stitches on to a tapestry needle and pulled tiiiiiight and wove in the tail.

No fuss, no muss, and a nice smooth top of the head.

Does this count as a free pattern? LOL Guess I could always specific it up if anyone is interested.

I used SWTC Bamboo in Ocean Stripe. The perfect choice for the head of a tree hugger working in the produce section of a co-op. Kiss Kiss Blah Blah. It was so soft and silky and drapey when all knit. I bet it could squish into the teeniest of pockets and come out totally unscathed. A random hole showed up about half way so we disguised it with some buttons. It looks even cuter but alas I forgot to take pictures. Shocking, I know.

What else?

um uh um

I think that is about it.

Ok. Off to bed I go now that we are all caught up.

Good thing too…. the new Knitty should be out very very soon and I am so hoping for tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

It’s true

Dream Job Alert!

Ah-feckin’-HA!!

I know what I want to be when I grow up.

I want to be a Finder.

You need a pony that can ride a bicycle while wearing hot pants? I’ll find it!

You need that autographed beer stein from Hamburg? I’ll find it!

You need your car keys? I’ll find ‘em!

Lost your marbles? I’ll find ‘em (and maybe mine ta boot!)

So long 9-5! I’m gonna go find myself a new way to work.

Hmmm, someone has been spying on my mornings

Snot Fair!

I can’t learn stupid crochet.

(yes, it’s only stupid cuz I can’t figure it out)

I taught myself to knit using the fantabulous tool of Youtube and then baby stepped my way to the glory we know today.

Can I do the same thing with crochet?

Hell to the NO!

Snot Fair, I tell ya.

I may actually have to break down and ask some one (a real live person) to help me.

Ugh. Dunckie does not like asking for help.

I blame the afghan block exchange group I am in. So many of the other ladies are zooming along with their fancy hooking.

humph

I admit it. I’m jealous.

And I am so going to try again.

Youtube… Here I come!

Wish me luck!!

Wanna see me booty?

Get your mind out of the gutter!

I meant my arrrrgyle skull cap. It’s all done except for the weaving in of a few threads.  HA!

It went along quick as a bunny and was challenging but not taxing.

And did I mention super cute?

It barely used any yarn. My skeins looked untouched! I bet I could make 3 or 4 more out of them.

It does try to cut off the circulation to my brain but I’m not sure that is due to my uber tight stranding or simply the fact that I made the small size. Hmmm.

Either way, I look ded sexy innit.

It will totally fit Monkey’s pea size noggin so I’ll give it to her even after I win our golf tourney.

Clearly written pattern and too much fun for my own good.

Now… Off to bed before I turn from a piiiiirate to a pumpkin.

Oh and when this is up and ready here is where to go. In fact, go now. There is some cute booty to be hat.

Patterns, you dirty land lubbers!

Sheesh.

Test 1 2 Test Arrrrrrrrr

Aaarrrrgyle that is.

I am finally getting around to testing the aarrrgyle skull cap and I must say that 4 color work is ADDICTING.

I am kinda making a hot mess (mostly out of my refusal to do that bobbin thing and am stranding it all) and I think my tension is going to be waay off (see bobbin reference) but it is soooo cute that I have back up toddlers in mind if I am correct.

The pattern is straight forward and well written. No errors have yet to be found.

My goal is to finish it this weekend. Heck, I’ll probably finish it tonight during So You Think You Can Dance (admit it, you watch it too).

It has to be completed by Saturday afternoon as it is the prize that’s up for grabs at the 2nd Annual Pirates Cove Mini Golf Tournament.

And yes. I cast-on the smaller size because I fully expect Monkey to kick my boo-hiney.

Although I did have a most glorious hole in one last year.  Most glorious indeed.
